Afonso Alves Football player

Afonso Alves Martins Júnior (born 30 January 1981), known as simply Afonso Alves, is a Brazilian footballer who plays as a striker. He has been a free agent since 2013.Alves enjoyed the most successful period of his career playing at Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie, where his goal-to-game ratio was higher than a goal a game. This precipitated a club record move to English club Middlesbrough in January 2008. Alves has been capped for Brazil on eight occasions.
