Alex Rasmussen Cyclist

Alex Nicki Rasmussen (born June 9, 1984 in Svendborg) is a Danish professional racing cyclist. Rasmussen specialises in track cycling, and was the Scratch world champion in 2005. Together with Michael Mørkøv, Rasmussen has won the Danish Madison championships six times in a row, where they go under the name of 'Par nummer syv' (Pair number seven). Rasmussen has also found success on the road, winning the 2007 Danish national championship road race. He rode for UCI ProTeams Team Saxo Bank and HTC-Highroad. On September 15, 2011, his contract with HTC-Highroad was terminated for missing a doping control, at which time the team was made aware of two previous controls he had missed before he joined them. He was also removed from the Denmark team for the 2011 UCI Road World Championships and faces criminal prosecution. However, on November 17, Rasmussen was cleared of the charges due to a procedural error on the part of the UCI. His previously-signed contract with Garmin-Barracuda, nullified upon news of the whereabouts violations, was again honored.
