Alfons Gorbach Politician
Alfons Gorbach (2 September 1898 – 31 July 1972) was an Austrian politician who served as Chancellor of Austria from 1961–64.From 1929–32, Gorbach was a municipal councillor in Graz. After the Anschluss with Germany in 1938, Gorbach was held as a political prisoner at Dachau from 1938–42, and again at Flossenburg from 1944 until the end of World War II.A member of the Austrian People's Party, Gorbach was president of the National Council of Austria from 1945–53 and again from 1956–61. After his three years as Chancellor, he returned to the National Council where he served until 1970.
