Aloízio Mercadante Politician

Aloízio Mercadante Oliva (born in São Paulo, São Paulo on 13 May 1954) is an economist and Brazilian politician. He was a founder of the Workers' Party in February 1980 and vice chairman of the party between 1991 and 1999. Was state senator from São Paulo between 2003 and 2010. From 2011 to 2012 he was Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation in Brazil, and in 2012 he became Minister of Education, due to the departure of Fernando Haddad to run for mayor of São Paulo. In 2014 he became Chief of Staff of Brazil.
