Andrea Gaudenzi (Italian pronunciation: [anˈdrɛːa ɡauˈdɛntsi]; born July 30, 1973) is a former tennis player from Italy, who turned professional in 1990.Gaudenzi was born in Faenza, Emilia-Romagna. He is best known for defeating Pete Sampras in the first round of the 2002 French Open. A right-hander, he represented his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he was defeated in the third round by the eventual winner, Andre Agassi. Gaudenzi reached his career-high ATP singles ranking in February 1995, when he became World No. 18.
