Anxo Lorenzo Musical artist

Anxo Lorenzo is a musician who plays the gaita, the traditional Galician bagpipe, from Moaña (Tirán), a small village on the Atlantic Coast of Galicia. While most of his output reflects his Celtic roots, Lorenzo is known for experimenting with traditional and contemporary music, fusing the unadulterated natural sound of the gaita with other music styles such as rock, pop, jazz, flamenco, chill out, hip-hop and electronic. His collaborators have included Skape, Celtas Cortos, Lunasa, Kathryn Tickell, Michael McGoldrick, The Chieftains, Daimh, The National Jazz Orchestra, Luigi Lai, Diarmaid Moynihan, Brian Finnegan, Dervish, Jaula de Grillos, Tejedor, Angus Mackenzie, Iain MacDonald, Germán Díaz, Jarlath Henderson, Ross Ainslie, Andy May, Fred Morrison, Mónica Molina, Amistades Peligrosas, Xarabal, Om/Off, Poncho K and Spiritu 986. As a classically trained musician, soloist and composer Lorenzo continues to research into various fields of music, gives master classes in various countries and has performed at several of the leading international festivals.
