Ara Khachatryan Athlete
Ara Khachatryan (born January 1 or September 13 1982) is an Armenian weightlifter. Khachatryan participated in the men's -77 kg class at the 2006 World Weightlifting Championships and won the bronze medal, finishing behind Taner Sagir and Li Hongli. He snatched 165 kg and clean and jerked an additional 192 kg for a total of 357 kg, 4 kg behind winner Sagir. At the 2008 European Weightlifting Championships he won the silver medal in the 77 kg category, with a total of 361 kg. At the 2010 European Weightlifting Championships he won the silver medal in the 85 kg category, with a total of 368 kg. His trainer was Ashot Mkhitaryan who died 23.05.2010.
