Art Anderson American football player

Arthur Anthony Anderson (born October 9, 1936 in Breckenridge, Minnesota) is a former professional American football offensive tackle in the National Football League. Art was known for his stoic toughness, and being one of the few tackles to ever prevent the feared NFL Hall of Fame inductee Deacon Jones from accomplishing any sacks in a game (1961 season). His teammates on the Chicago Bears under George Halas included his friend Stan Jones and 1961 rookie Mike Ditka, both NFL Hall of Fame inductees. Art's 7 yard career average rushing gain per attempt statistic is only one tenth of a yard short of the all-time NFL individual record.
