Arthur Stanton Football player

Arthur Stanton (1892 – after 1917) was an English professional footballer who played in the Football League for Birmingham.Stanton was born in Bloxwich, Staffordshire. He played for Bloxwich Strollers before joining Birmingham in April 1913 as cover at full back. He made his debut in the Second Division on 3 January 1914, deputising for Frank Womack at left back in a home game against Notts County which Birmingham won 2–1. Over the next two seasons he played five times more, in each case standing in for Womack or his full-back partner Billy Ball. Described as a solid, powerful defender who lacked pace, Stanton did not play for the club during the First World War, and returned to local football with Oldbury in 1918.
