Benjamin Franklin Terry Military person
Benjamin Franklin Terry (February 18, 1821–December 17, 1861) became the first commander of the Eighth Texas Cavalry Terry's Texas Rangers during the American Civil War. A plantation owner and leading citizen of Fort Bend County, he organized the regiment to serve in the Confederate States Army. Terry was killed in the regiment's first action at Rowlett's Station near Woodsonville, Kentucky. Terry County, Texas was named after him, as was B. F. Terry High School in Richmond, Texas.
