After retiring from football he took up the position of general manager at Dutch club FC Zwolle. However, on 1 July 2012 he stepped down from this position. In 2010 Konterman also began a part-time new career as a travel salesman alongside former teammate Michael Mols in his homeland.Since the 2013–14 season Konterman is assistant manager of Jong FC Twente, the second team of the club.
