Brian Glencross Athlete

Brian Alan Glencross OAM (born 1 May 1941 in Narrogin, Western Australia) is a retired field hockey player from Australia. As a member of the Australian National Men's Hockey Team, he won a bronze medal and a silver medal at consecutive Olympic Games - the bronze at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan and the silver four years later, when Mexico City hosted the Games. As a player he represented Australia from 1964–74, playing in 93 games. After his active career Glencross became a hockey coach. He guided the Australian Women's Hockey Team at three Summer Olympics, starting in 1984. In 1988 the team won the Gold medal under his guidance. He was succeeded by his former team mate Ric Charlesworth. Glencross was inducted into the Australian Hall of Fame in 1991.
