Brian Philley Football player

Brian Philley (born August 15, 1926 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; died on August 30, 2002), is a former Canadian national soccer team player. He was a member Canada's World Cup team in 1957, playing in all the games in which he scored two goals. He played 10 times for the B.C. All Stars against teams like Newcastle United, Northern Ireland, and Tottenham Hotspur. He played his with teams such as Vancouver City, and later with the Vancouver Halecos. He won the Canadian Club Championship in 1956 with the Halecos. When he retired from soccer he became a referee and a member of the board of directors of the B.C. Soccer Association.He was inducted into the B.C. Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. He died in 2002, a year later he was inducted into the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame in 2003.
