Charles A. Gilman Politician
Charles Andrew Gilman (February 9, 1833 – June 7, 1927) was a Minnesota legislator, Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives, and the ninth Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota. Born in Gilmanton, New Hampshire, he later moved to Minnesota. He first served in the Minnesota Senate in 1868, and later served in the Minnesota House from 1875 to 1879, serving as the body's leader his last two years in office. He became Lieutenant Governor under Governors John S. Pillsbury and Lucius Hubbard from January 10, 1880 to January 4, 1887. He later served one more term in the House, from 1915 to 1916.Gilman was married to Hester Cronk. He died in 1927 in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
