Charles "Charlie" McCarthy (born 1946) is an Irish retired hurler and coach who played as a left corner-forward for the Cork senior team.McCarthy made his first appearance for the team during the 1965 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1980 championship. During that time he won five All-Ireland medals, nine Munster medals, four National League medals and three All-Star awards. An All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions, McCarthy captained the team to a third successive All-Ireland title in 1978.At club level McCarthy is a two-time All-Ireland medalist with St. Finbarr's. In addition to this he has also won four Munster medals and five county club championship medals.
