Craig Alexander Athlete
Craig Alexander (born 22 June 1973) is an Australian triathlete who is the 2008, 2009 & 2011 Ironman Triathlon World Champion. He is only the fourth man to win the Ironman World Championship two years in a row; the others were Dave Scott, Mark Allen, and Tim DeBoom. He is also only the fourth man to win the Ironman World Championship three times. He is the record holder for the Ironman World Championship. He is also the winner of the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in 2006 and 2011. Alexander has an educational background in Anatomy and Physiology. This has allowed him to largely be self taught since beginning in triathlon in 1997. For most of his career he acted as his own coach, but recently has begun to work with Coach Chris Carmichael. In 2011 this decision paid off. Alexander became the oldest men's winner of the Hawaiian Ironman world title. He crossed the finish line in eight hours three minutes and 56 seconds. That just broke the 8:04:08 set by Belgian Luc Van Lierde in 1996. Breaking the 15-year-old course record, Crowie put in arguably the greatest single performance in Australian triathlon history.
