Danny Kinahan Politician

Daniel de Burgh Kinahan MLA is an Ulster Unionist Party politician from Northern Ireland, and a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly for South Antrim. In 2005 he was elected to Antrim Borough Council, and in June 2009 he was appointed to the South Antrim seat in the Assembly vacated by the resignation of David Burnside.He is the son of the late Sir Robin Kinahan and was educated at Craigflower School (Torryburn), Stowe and Edinburgh University. He is a cousin of singer Chris de Burgh. Professionally Kinahan is an antiques expert and worked as Christie's auctioneers Irish representative. He lives with his wife and four children at Castle Upton, Templepatrick. In the Northern Ireland Assembly election, 2007 he unsuccessfully stood as a UUP candidate in South Antrim. In 1996, he was appointed High Sheriff of Antrim. He was re-elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly at the 2011 election.
