Ella Mitchell
Ella Mitchell (born August 15, 1937) is an African-American soul singer and actress. Mitchell is best remembered for playing the comic role as Hattie Mae Pierce (Big Momma) in the 2000 comedy film Big Momma's House. She also appeared in an uncredited role in a 1975 film, Lord Shango, and is credited as a star and co-director of the 2011 short film, Tropfest Junior 2011: The Bar Bee Q. On stage, Mitchell played the lead role of the evil witch, "Evillene", in the original Broadway theatre production of the musical "The Wiz" between 1976 and 1977.
