Erwin Hahn Scientist
Erwin L. Hahn (born June 9, 1921) is a U.S. physicist, best known for his work on nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). In 1950 he discovered the spin echo.He received his B.S. in Physics from Juniata College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Berkeley since 1991 and was professor of physics, 1955-91. In 1999 Hahn was awarded the Comstock Prize in Physics from the National Academy of Sciences.
