George Hungerford Athlete

George William Hungerford, OC (born January 2, 1944) is a Canadian lawyer and Olympic gold medalist rower. He was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. George attended High School at Shawnigan Lake School on Vancouver Island where he learned to row, after high school he went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1965 and a Bachelor of Law degree in 1968 both from the University of British Columbia. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1969. He has been a lawyer with Fasken Martineau since 2000. He won the only gold medal for Canada at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Rowing (pairs) with Roger Jackson. They were also awarded the Lou Marsh Trophy in 1964. In 1984, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
