Hans Weiss Military person

Hans Weiss (28 August 1911 — 23 October 1978) was an Obersturmbannführer (Lieutenant Colonel), in the Waffen SS during World War II who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.Hans Weiss was born on the 28 August 1911, at Vöhringen, he volunteered to join the SS and participated in the Anschluss of Austria and the occupation of the Sudetenland.During World War II he was the commander of the SS Heavy Panzer Battalion 102 and the 2nd SS Panzer Reconnaissance Battalion (2nd SS Division Das Reich) when he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on the 6 April 1943.
