Hooshang Kamkar Musical artist

Hooshang Kamkar (Persian: هوشنگ کامکار Kurdish: Hoşeng Kamkar) (born 1946) is an Iranian Kurdish musician. He was born in Sanandaj, a city in Kurdistan province in Iran. He started his musical training with his father, Hassan Kamkar. Later, he attended the Faculty of Fine Arts in Tehran University, the Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome and the University of San Francisco in USA. He is a prolific composer, writer and translator. Among his best-known compositions are, The Victory of Bahman, Marigold, God Ship Martyrs, Abidar's Springs In Memory of Hafez, Dar Golestaneh, Shabahengam, Kuhsar Symphony, Chant of Drums.
