Horatio G. Knight Politician

Horatio Gates Knight (March 24, 1818 - October 16, 1895) was an American politician, manufacturer and philanthropist who served as the 30th Lieutenant Governor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1875 to 1879. Knight apprenticed with store-keeper Samuel Williston as a boy and the two later worked as business partners, establishing and operating manufacturing businesses in Easthampton, Massachusetts. He married Mary Ann Huntoon, and his daughter was the composer Mary Knight Wood.
