Jack Verge Rugby player

Arthur "Jack" Verge (c. 1880 - 8 September 1915) was a rugby union player who represented Australia and a medical practitioner who died on active service during World War I.Verge, was born in Kempsey, New South Wales to parents Austral and Matilda Verge. He was schooled at The King's School, Parramatta, with his medical studies taken at Sydney University in residence at St Paul's College. He practiced as a specialist in skin disease. A rugby union fullback, Verge made his national representative debut against Great Britain, in Sydney, on 2 July 1904. He claimed a total of two international rugby caps for Australia.He enlisted in the Australian Army Medical Corps of the Australian Imperial Forces in October 1914 as a captain and embarked from Sydney for Alexandria in December 1914. He died of dysentery in September 1915 in Alexandria.
