Jackie Tyrrell Gaelic games player

Jackie Tyrrell (born 19 June 1982) is an Irish hurler who plays as a left corner-back for the Kilkenny senior team.Born in Kilkenny, Tyrrell first excelled at hurling during his schooling at St. Kieran's College. He arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of seventeen when he first linked up with the Kilkenny minor team, before later joining the under-21 side. He joined the senior panel during the 2003 championship. Tyrrell later became a regular member of the starting fifteen, and has since won seven All-Ireland medals, eight Leinster medals and six National League medals on the field of play. The All-Ireland-winning captain of 2006, he has been an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion.As a member of the Leinster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Tyrrell has won three Railway Cup medals. At club level he is a one-time All-Ireland medallist with James Stephens. In addition to this he has also won two Leinster medals, three county hurling championship medals and two county football championship medals.Throughout his career Tyrrell has made 46 championship appearances.
