Jas Murphy Gaelic games player

James 'Jas' Murphy (born 30 May 1923) is a former Gaelic footballer from Ireland who played as a corner-back for both Cork and Kerry senior teams from 1947 until 1954.Murphy made his first appearance for the Cork team during the 1947 championship and, after spending two seasons with 'the Rebels', he declared for Kerry in 1949. He went on to win one All-Ireland winner's medal and two Munster winner's medals. In 1953 Murphy captained the team to the All-Ireland title.At club level Murphy began his career with Kerins O'Rahilly's in Tralee before later joining the St. Nicholas' club in Cork where he won a county club championship winners' medal.
