Jerry E. Patterson Politician

Jerry Emmett Patterson (born November 15, 1946), is the former Commissioner of the General Land Office of Texas and a former member of the Texas State Senate. He is the second Republican since Reconstruction to serve as Land Commissioner, a post he from 2003 to 2015. He served in the Texas State Senate (District 11) from 1993 to 1999.As the Republican nominee for a third term in the November 2, 2010, general election, Patterson easily defeated the Democrat Hector Uribe, a former member of both houses of the Texas State Legislature.Patterson did not seek a fourth term as Land Comnmissioenr. He was instead an unsuccessful Republican candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Texas in the primary election held on March 4, 2014.
