João Sousa Tennis player

João Sousa (Portuguese pronunciation: [ʒuɐ̃ũ̯ souzɐ]; born 30 March 1989) is a Portuguese professional tennis player who is currently ranked world no. 49 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP). He has been ranked inside the top 100 continuously since July 2013. Sousa first rose to prominence at the 2013 Proton Malaysian Open, where he won the title and became the first player from his country to win a tournament at ATP World Tour level. He is often regarded as the greatest Portuguese tennis player of all time.Sousa holds several men's Portuguese tennis records. On 14 July 2014, Sousa reached a career-high singles ranking of no. 35, being the only Portuguese to enter the top 50. He was the fourth Portuguese player to reach the singles top 100, and became the second to do it on both singles and doubles rankings (after Nuno Marques). In 2014, Sousa was the first Portuguese to play exclusively at the ATP World Tour in a single season, and at the 2014 US Open, he was the first Portuguese ever to be seeded at a Grand Slam tournament. He is also the Portuguese with the largest career prize money ever and most wins at Grand Slam singles tournaments.He is currently coached by former player Frederico Marques and practices at the BTT Tennis Academy in Barcelona. Sousa is sometimes referred to as "Conqueror" (Portuguese: Conquistador), for sharing his birthplace with Afonso I of Portugal.
