Juan C. Zapata Politician

Juan C. Zapata is a Miami, Florida Republican politician who served as the representative for District 119 of the House of Representatives of the State of Florida. He was first elected to the Florida House in 2002 and reelected successively in 2006 and 2008. He is the chair of the Human Services Appropriations Committee.Representative Zapata was the first Colombian-American elected to the Florida House of Representatives. Born on December 9, 1966, and moved to Florida in 1977. He earned his Associate of Arts degree at Miami-Dade Community College in 1990 and his Bachelor of Science degree in finance and international business in 1994 from Florida International University in Miami, Florida. He owns a business, Greenback Investments. Mr. Zapata is currently on the Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioners as the commissioner for District 11.
