Kurt Böhmer Military person

Konteradmiral Kurt Werner Max Böhmer (31 December 1892 in Magdeburg – killed in action 1 October 1944 near Ventspils, Latvia) was a Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross recipient during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. He took command of the 9. Sicherungsdivision (9th Security Division) on 17 June 1944. As leader of the division he was shot and killed on a hunting trip together with three foresters at Ventspils in Latvia by partisans on 1 October 1944.
