Laurel Broten Politician

Laurel C. Broten (born c. 1967) is a politician in Ontario, Canada. She was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, representing the riding of Etobicoke—Lakeshore for the Ontario Liberal Party from 2003 to 2013. She served in the cabinet of Kathleen Wynne as the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs as well as the Minister Responsible for Women's Issues and had been Minister of Education under Dalton McGuinty. On June 23, 2013, Broten announced that she would be "leaving politics effective July 2nd" and moving to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The following year she was hired by the provincial government, headed by Liberal Premier Stephen McNeil, to conduct a tax review. In January 2015, she was appointed President and CEO of Nova Scotia Business Inc.
