Liao Hui Athlete

Liao Hui is a male Chinese weightlifter. He is 168 cm tall. He beat two junior world records in the 69 kg category to clinch the gold in 2007 at the 6th Chinese City Games. He won a gold medal in the 69 kg class at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Liao Hui entered the national weightlifting team in early 2007. After breaking two junior world records in 2007, he turned into a candidate of the national team from a backup of the 2012 Olympics. His performance even prevented veteran Olympic gold medalist Zhang Guozheng from attending the Beijing Olympics. He won the gold medal in the 69 kg category at the 2009 World Weightlifting Championships, with 346 kg in total. He holds the world records for both the clean and jerk and the total in the 69 kg category, lifting 198 kg and 358 kg at the 2010 World Weightlifting Championships respectively. In November 2011, the International Weightlifting Federation announced Liao has been banned for three years for a positive drug test and has been stripped of his gold medal from the 2010 World Weightlifting Championships. He has also been stripped of the two world records he set at those games. His ban ends September 30, 2014.
