Maggie Greenwald

Maggie Greenwald (born June 23, 1955 in Manhattan, New York) is an American film, television director and screenwriter.She is most recognized for writing and directing Songcatcher (2000) and The Ballad of Little Jo (1993). She also directed an adaptation of Jim Thompson's The Kill-Off starring an ensemble cast that includes Cathy Haase and the film debut of Jorja Fox.Greenwald has also directed a number of television films as well as directing episodes of The Adventures of Pete & Pete, The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo and Wildfire. According to film scholar Gwendolyn Audrey Foster, Greenwald's "sense of macabre humor" was apparent in her 1989 film The Kill-Off, which Foster described as a "well-acted adaptation of a hard-boiled novel" about a "bedridden, evil gossip."
