Maria Aurora Couto Writer
Maria Aurora Couto is an Indian writer, historian and educationalist from Goa. Her family hails from the Goan Catholic community, a Christian community in Goa. She taught English literature in colleges in India (particularly New Delhi) and has contributed to periodicals in India and the United Kingdom.She lives in the North Goa village of Aldona. Her late husband Alban Couto was a senior civil servant in the Government of Goa and worked in many parts of India. In 2010, she received the Padma Shri award.
