Matt Connor Gaelic games player

Matt Connor (born 1960 in Walsh Island, County Offaly) is an Irish retired sportsperson. He played Gaelic football with his local club Walsh Island and was a member of the Offaly senior inter-county team from 1978 until 1984 when a car accident resulted in his need to use a wheelchair. Despite his football career being tragically cut short at such a young age, he is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers ever to play the game. His display for Offaly in the 1980 All-Ireland Semi-Final against Kerry, scoring 2-9, is considered one of the best personal performances in the history of Gaelic Football.
