Olof Mellberg Football player

Erik Olof Mellberg (pronounced [ˈuːˈlɔf ˈmɛlˈbærj]; born 3 September 1977 in Amnehärad, Gullspång) is a Swedish former footballer who played as a central defender or right-back. During his career Mellberg was described as being "big, strong and exceptional in the air". He is best known for playing the majority of his career at Aston Villa as well as spells with Italian side Juventus and Greek side Olympiacos.Mellberg played for Sweden in two World Cups and four European Championships and is a former captain of the national team. Mellberg ended his international career with 8 goals in 117 matches.
