Pat Convery Politician

Patrick Convery (born 1957), known as Pat Convery, is an Irish Nationalist politician who sits as a Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) Councillor on Belfast City Council. Convery was elected Lord Mayor of Belfast on 1 June 2010 and served until his term ended in June 2011. He has represented the Castle area of North Belfast since being elected to Belfast City Council in June 2001.He is Vice-Chairperson of the SDLP, a Belfast Harbour Commissioner, a member of the North Belfast Partnership and a former Chairman of the Belfast District Policing Partnership. He also served as Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast from 2005 to 2006. Convery is married with two daughters, and lives in Belfast.Convery stood for the Northern Ireland Assembly in Belfast North in 2003 and 2007, narrowly missing election on both occasions.
