Paul Betz Military person

Paul Otto Ferdinand Betz (10 July 1895 – 9 May 1944) was a highly decorated Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded several divisions. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Paul Betz was killed on 9 May 1944 in Sevastopol, Ukraine. He was posthumously promoted to Generalmajor and awarded the Knight's Cross.
