Paul Cannell Football player

Paul Cannell (born 2 September 1953 in Newcastle upon Tyne) is an English former footballer who played as a forward for Newcastle United between 1972 and 1978. He made 62 appearances and scored 18 goals, before moving to the United States. Cannell was a substitute for the 1976 League Cup Final, which Newcastle lost 2–1 to Manchester City.In his career as a whole, he played for Newcastle United and Mansfield Town in the Football League, three spells with the Washington Diplomats in the North American Soccer League (NASL), the Memphis Rogues (also in the NASL), the Detroit Express in the NASL indoor league, Scottish Football League club Berwick Rangers, and North Shields.
