Robert Mizzell Musical artist

Robert Mizzell was born on 21st July in Louisiana, the Bayou State and raised on the shores of Lake Bistineau near Shreveport. Robert's early musical influences came from his parents who both performed in a Church Gospel group and later they played the Bars / Lounges in and around Shreveport. When he was 17 Robert moved to Connecticut where he worked with his father in the painting / decorating business. He then joined the US army where he served for a number of years. After his military service he moved to Ireland with dreams of a career in country music. Robert has made Ireland his home for over 20 years. He served his apprenticeship in Country Music since he first arrived there and is now one of the top Country artists in Ireland, his popularity spreading with extensive airplay into Europe and to such distant territories as Australia. As anyone who ever attended a Robert Mizzell show will testify, Robert with his band The Country Kings put on an energy filled show. Brimming with Country flavour his shows appeal to audiences in Nashville and wherever Country Music is popular. A Tommy Swarbrigg composition 'Kick Ass Country' was Robert's first major hit making him a household name in Ireland. 'Say You Love Me' is a song synonymous with Robert and its immense popularity dictates that it's requested at all his shows. Robert's first four albums were entitled 'Hello Mr. DJ'; 'Louisiana Man'; 'Looking Lucky'; and 'Waltzing With Me' which included the hit single 'Who's Gonna Dance With Sally Ann'. 'Looking Lucky' (the American release entitled 'Place Beyond The Sun') was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee and contained all original country songs written by American and Irish songwriters. His fifth studio album entitled 'Thanks A Lot' was released in February 2008. In March 2009 Robert released a compilation C.D. entitled 'The Louisiana Man – The Hits' which featured all the tracks from his best selling DVD of the same name and was released at the end of 2008. The DVD was shot partly in Ireland and at stunning locations in Kentucky in the United States. In April 2010 Robert released his sixth studio album - a 15 track C.D. entitled 'Redneck Man'. Among the tracks on this album are his hit single 'Mama Courtney', especially written for him by Henry Mc Mahon and 'Murder On Music Row' a duet with top American Country Artist, Collin Raye which reached the number one position on the ECMC during March 2010 and remained there for three weeks. 'Mama Courtney' was also released in Europe; it spent twenty weeks on the ECMC, including five weeks at number one. During 2011 Robert's 7th album 'Mama's Rocking Chair' was released, included on this CD were his two very successful singles, 'I Ain't Fallin' For That' and 'Cajun Dance' written for Robert by Peter Mc Keever. Songs like 'Dance With My Father' and 'Home' exemplify Robert's talent as an interpreter of songs. They come from a different genre but Robert instinctively imbues them with a country feel making them appear native to the country genre. Listed among Robert's most requested songs are 'Say You Love Me', 'Thanks A Lot', 'Who's Gonna Dance With Sally Ann', and 'Mama Courtney'. Since 2010, Robert has been part of the Three Amigos hugely successful tour with Jimmy Buckley and Patrick Feeney. To date The Three Amigos have recorded two albums together. A number of years ago Robert started a trend of taking a group of friends and fans on tour with him to the United States, visiting places like Memphis, Nashville, Austin, San Antonio and New Orleans. During these tours Robert had the opportunity and privilege of performing at elite venues including The Midnite Jamboree; The Ernest Tubb Theatre; The Cowboy Church; The Carter Family Fold, The Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge and in his native Shreveport in Louisiana. On Saturday 29th October 2011 Robert was inducted into Shreveport's Walk of Stars in recognition of his achievements in the world of Country Music, all the sweeter given he is a native son of Shreveport, Louisiana and this is the highest accolade his own home city can bestow on him. Some other people who are inductees are; Elvis Presley (Posthumously), Merle Kilgore (co writer of The Ring of Fire), Hank Williams Sr. and Hank Williams Jr.'>Hank Williams Jr.. In May 2012 he recorded single with Billy Yates titled "Just Be You", the two then spent the month touring Ireland.
