Robert Solomon Politician

Robert John Solomon AM (born 2 November 1931) is a retired Australian politician. Born in Condobolin, New South Wales, he was educated at Barker College, the University of Sydney and Oxford University before receiving a PhD from the University of Tasmania. He was Senior Lecturer in Geography at the University of Tasmania from 1957 to 1969, and was vice-president of the Tasmanian Liberal Party from 1965 to 1969. In 1969, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Liberal member for Denison, succeeding the retiring Liberal MP Adrian Gibson. He was defeated in 1972 by the Labor candidate, John Coates.
