Savitri Devu Jindal is a Non-Executive Chairperson, Jindal Steel & Power Limited. She was born to a conservative family in Tinsukia, Assam in 1950. Savitri Jindal grew up living the lifestyle of a traditional Indian woman. In 1970 she married O.P. Jindal, who had founded the Jindal Group, a steel and power conglomerateSavitri Jindal was a member of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha (Legislative Assembly). She lost the seat in recently held elections in Haryana assembly. She became the chairperson after her husband, O. P. Jindal, died in a helicopter crash in 2005. She is a member of the INC political party.Although not a self-made billionaire, Savitri Jindal is the richest woman in Asia. Worth over $14.4 billion she also is the world's 56th richest person. The steel baroness, however, most enjoys talking about her nine children and continuing her husband's public work. She is the world's 4th richest mother and has more children than any woman billionaire.As of September 2014, Savitri Jindal and her family was listed by Forbes as the world's 155thth "richest person", with a net worth of US$6.4 billion. They ranked as the twelfth richest in India. Among the billionaire mothers listed in 2010, Jindal had the most children (nine).
