Sébastien Paquet Scientist

Sébastien Paquet is a Canadian academic, researcher, and blogger best known for his work on the Internet Topic Exchange with Phillip Pearson, a precursor to modern-day tags and folksonomies, as well as his social software blog many-to-many, cohosted with Clay Shirky, Ross Mayfield, David Weinberger, and danah boyd. He has been credited with introducing the notion of Ridiculously Easy Group-Forming in 2002.Paquet earned a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2003 from the University of Montreal, his thesis title was A Socio-Technological Approach to Sharing Knowledge Across Disciplines. After his Ph.D., he joined the National Research Council of Canada where he worked with Stephen Downes before joining SocialText for a year in 2005.He is currently a professor at Université du Québec à Montréal.
