Simon Rix Musical artist

James Simon Rix is the bass player for popular British band Kaiser Chiefs and is famous for his large curly hair which has led to the nickname 'Jesus' by fans and 'curlywand' amongst friends.. He went to school at St. Mary's Catholic High School, Menston, West Yorkshire with Nick Hodgson and Nick 'Peanut' Baines, who are also members of Kaiser Chiefs. Live, Rix mostly plays a Fender Custom Shop ’58 Precision Bass or a Pino Palladino Signature Precision Bass and also uses a Fender Jazz Bass (Geddy Lee) when playing songs from the Off with Their Heads album. For amplification Rix has used Ampeg bass amps for most of his career, currently using an Ampeg SVT-VR and an Ampeg SVT-CL head, each with a separate 810 cabinet. He has also recently stated he enjoys collecting "guitar gear". Away from music, he studied mathematics and geography at Leeds University and is a supporter of Leeds United.
