Sofia Shapatava (Georgian: სოფია შაფათავა; born 12 January 1989) is a Georgian professional tennis player. Her career high ranking is no. 186 (achieved on 8 September 2014) in singles and no. 160 (3 March 2014) in doubles. As of 28 July 2014, her current ranking is 190 in singles and 176 in doubles. Her favourite surface is hard.In May 2014, Shapatava played in qualifying for the 2014 French Open, after narrowly making it into the draw thanks to withdrawals and wildcards into the main draw for several players. She won all three of her matches to qualify for the first grand slam of her career, facing Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round and losing in straight sets.
