Susan Herbst
Susan Herbst, a political scientist, is the 15th and current president of the University of Connecticut. She was named the president of the university on December 20, 2010, and took office on June 1, 2011. She succeeded Philip Austin, who served as Interim President since May 2010 after President Michael Hogan left.The University of Connecticut has campuses in Avery Point, Greater Hartford, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, and Storrs, enrolling more than 28,000 students, with a total operating budget of approximately $1.4 billion. Herbst is the first woman to be selected as the University of Connecticut’s president since the school’s founding in 1881.
