Sydney Dalrymple Military person
Captain Sydney Dalrymple was an Australian World War I flying ace credited with five aerial victories.Dalrymple joined the Royal Flying Corps in 1915. He was trained as a pilot and assigned to fly a Martinsyde G.100 "Elephant" for 27 Squadron. During the course of bombing missions, he claimed his first win on 1 July 1916. He was promoted to Flight Commander and assigned to 27 Squadron from 22 May through 12 July 1917. His next transfer removed him from the Western Front and sent him to Italy. He joined No. 139 Squadron RAF as a captain, and piloted Bristol F.2 Fighters. He was assigned to reconnaissance patrols, but still ended up in dogfights. He destroyed four more enemy fighters, scoring double wins on 8 August and 13 September 1918.
