Thomas Zacharias

Thomas Zacharias (abt. 1860 - March 30, 1892) was a professional baseball umpire. Zacharias umpired 52 National League games in 1890, 35 of them as the home plate umpire. Zacharias resigned in late June 1890, stating that he "would rather work in an iron-mill than umpire". It is not known where and when he was born. However, it is known that he died on March 30, 1892 in Homestead, Pennsylvania. after being run over and killed by a freight train.
