Werner Ebeling Military person

Werner Ebeling (21 November 1913 – 25 August 2008) was a highly decorated Oberst in the Wehrmacht during World War II and a Generalmajor in the Bundeswehr. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves (German: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes mit Eichenlaub). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross and its higher grade Oak Leaves was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. He commanded the 11. Panzergrenadier-Division of the Bundeswehr from 15 January 1968 to 30 September 1970.
