Wilhelm Schneckenburger Military person

Wilhelm 'Willi' Schneckenburger (30 March 1891 – 14 October 1944) was a highly decorated General der Infanterie in the Wehrmacht during World War II who commanded the XVII Armeekorps. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Wilhelm Schneckenburger was killed on 14 October 1944 by fire from low flying aircraft.
